Phoenicia

Phoenicia
Coastal territory north of Israel with Tyre and Sidon as the principal cities. There were commercial links with Israel (2 Sam. 5:11; 1 Kgs. 9:26 f.) and these led to the infiltration of Phoenician Baal worship (1 Kgs. 18:19; Isa. 65:11; Jer. 32:35). Phoenician art and writing were highly developed.
